As a Christian who was born and lived in a Muslim country until the age of ten- openly attending a Christian school and church and NEVER feeling or being threatened by a Muslim for being Christian, I find it increasingly disheartening when an American friend bashes Muslims.

I understand you're angry. This is in fact an emotional time. But spewing xenophobic hatred toward all Muslims is tantamount to anti-American extremists wishing death upon all Western societies- societies built by Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, etc.

In Iran we never hid the fact that we were Christian. Not even after the Shah was overthrown and a religious zealot took over. Ironically, it was here- in a "Christian Nation" that we experienced for the first time a notable measure of discrimination. When we were children my brother would tell his peers we were Italian.

It is arrogant to think that 9/11 was an ISLAMIC attack on YOU, when in fact it was a TERRORIST attack against HUMANITY, DECENCY. You don't, you can't possibly in your right mind think that all Middle Easterners/Muslims were cheering or quietly taking satisfaction in the attacks.

I know this is going to blow your mind and you might want to sit down for it, pour yourself a stiff one, but NOT ALL MUSLIMS ARE TERRORISTS and NOT ALL AMERICANS ARE CHRISTIAN.

Like seriously, eleven years on and we're still having the same old hackneyed discussion on the subject? Just stop. Stop it already.

And for the record: This is the last time in my lifetime I'm writing/uttering these words. I'm going to pretend from now on that we've all- no matter what our race, religion, political views- grown up and evolved a little bit since 2001.

Salman Ali Well said my friend, as a Muslim I hear these stories and it sickens me. I have Muslim friends who are afraid to grow beards because they will be always scrutinized wrong. When they are only following in the foot steps of prophet Mohammed or God's messenger Jesus, In in the end I just don't let it get to me.

Ana Cristina Velazquez So sorry to hear that this whole thing bout 9/11 made some people ignorant. Its sad to assume but in all, we could only better ourselves and step to the side of those who choose to live in the dark. May your "friend" find peace within, since his words oviously brought dislike.
