Several months ago the California State Supreme Court did the Constitutionally correct thing and struck down the prohibition against Gay marriage. Religion and God have nothing to do with it....it was merely a matter of Civil Rights and equality under the Law. It does not matter one bit how Christians "feel" about it...the rest of us are not obligated to consider Christian feelings....if we had, Slavery would still be legal and so would Jim Crow... Balcks and Whites coulodn't date or marry and on and on.

The People have spoken...they WANT discrimination...they WANT to deny equal rights to a minority they hate...but, thankfully, there is no Christian Sharia law here...thankfully our Constitution and form of government MANDATES that all laws, no matter how "popular" must be reviewed by the courts to determine their constitutionality...this is the briliance of our system; that it contains a mechanism to make sure the majority doesn't become a Tyrant...if the People pass a law that substantially discriminates against a minority, then a simple majority vote is NOT suficient...such action has to be taken by the LEGISLATURE where a two-thirds (or maybe it's three-quarters, not sure) vote is required. That was put in there to make sure that 51% of the people can't decide to deny equal rights to 49% of the people...or 5%...or 1%.

So, let the Christians cry about THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN...but let them think twice because the day could come when a popular vote could remove their tax-exempt status! Our system protects them TOO!!!

Now, this new law wil be reviewed by the same Supreme Court that just said Gays have the right to marry...and they'll say it again...they'll overturn this law AGAIN...and that's the way our system is supposed to work!

God bless it.
