The most common excuse these nationalists give us about their Assyrian origin is usually that the British wouldn't have given then this name nor would they have accepted it if it were not their original name. But do these people not accuse their Chaldean brethren of having accepted the Chaldean name from the Roman Catholic church? Yes, they say so. So, if the Chaldeans did it, why wouldn't the remaining Nestorians do so with the Assyrian name? After all, why not accept it for political reasons and to gain something. Is it also not interesting that there was no "Assyrian nation" or "peoples" before the British decided to use them? They would have been aware of themselves all along and kept something alive instead of being fools and twisting historical facts by claiming that they speak "Assyrian" and not Aramaic.

The British were in search of a good ally and why not use the Nestorian Syriacs who were willing to bend over and why not name them Assyrians since no one else was using this name exclusively. It is also wiser to give that name to the few Christians rather than allow the Muslims to have such achievements attributed to them even though no Muslim has ever claimed to be a true 100% descendant of the ancients and no other right minded human would do so. Even the modern Persians who were and always been aware of their history and ancestors, yet even after their conversion to Islam. They did not need archeological discoveries in Tehran in order to claim ancient Persian descent. Despite that, no Persian in the right mind would claim to be a 100% direct descendant of Cyrus.

These people are silly and have allowed their beliefs get into their heads a little too far. They went so far with it that they ban anyone from their forums who dares to question them. You got to wonder with all their claims of evidence they would be more than willing to slap people in the face with it and they sure as hell wouldn't run because the ancients were too brave. However, one has to think for a moment, if the ancient Assyrians were as stupid as these modern nationalists are, would they have been able to do what they did and rule over such a huge empire in the ancient world? If they were this picky and worried about preserving "pure blood" and culture, would they have achieved what they did, or would they have even accepted the Aramaic language which was not another dialect but another language of the Semitic family? If the ancients weren't even pure and all of Mesopotamia was a melting pot, how can one today be a direct descendant of someone who himself wasn't pure?

There were many Assyrian kings who were of other origins and many people before and after the ancient Assyrians migrated in and out of Mesopotamia since. Just about every people in modern Iraq are indigenous since they been there for centuries. The ancient Assyrians weren't the first nor the only people of Mesopotamia anyways. So the modern nationalists can bark all they want but no one will take them serious nor is anyone obligated to pack up and leave so that Dadesho can rule or anyone else. Furthermore, to believe something silly is one thing but to expect something in return is even worse. These people have never experienced what a Negro has experienced in America or South Africa, nor what the Palestinian goes through nor the Uyghurs, Tibetans or any other distressed people. These Syriac Christians had their own leaders, freedom to practice their religion, teach and preserve their language and culture and access to education and protection from the state.

Where Fred Aprim sees the survival of the Assyrians as a miracle from his god and claims that their refuge in the mountains was the key to their survival, he fails to see that the Chaldeans, Jacobites, and other Nestorians and Christian denominations lived in cities and towns which were under Islam, yet had no troubles. Looks like his god didn't have to protect his worshipers in other areas but was extra careful and made the effort to allow Aprim's ancestors to survive unharmed and without any mixed blood.

Their claims are so silly and ridiculous, yet they somehow like to believe they are feared and the world is working against them out of jealousy.
