...addressed to someone;

It’s commendable that a group of you wants to bring an Assyrian boy to the West for medical treatment he can not get in Iraq…the existence of better facilities and the crying need are self-evident. But I wonder that you can’t see in this the very basic fact that people deserve their best chance at life and opportunity….even if it takes them out of Assyria.

If conditions were excellent in Iraq, even to the point that its name was changed to Assyria, I doubt you’d be against allowing Assyrians to travel freely, settling where they choose…where the opportunities are best for them….but, with things as bad as they can be, you insist they must remain. Odd.

Is it their function in life to live where you’d prefer them to, in order to make a point dear to your heart? If Iraq is so bad it must be escaped from in order to attain health…what is healthy about it that you want the rest to remain?

How can you see the necessity of removing a young boy, for the sake of his health, but then return him to a country you admit is not able to meet his needs? Is it only to prepare him to suffer, to suffer as a healthy boy and young man, that you removed him for treatment? Would it be a "national loss" if he stayed and died young….thereby leaving not much of a “presence” behind, disappointing you because Assyria was being denuded of Assyrians? Is only the heart valve important to you? What about the entire person? Do you prefer live Assyrians, living next door to you in California, or dead, dying and despairing ones in Assyria?

For whose sake?
