There's a marked tendency in people like Jumblat, Aprim, Bet Jassim and others to act as if Islam and Arabs in particular, are the reason they've achieved so little in life. They point to an Arab sense of "superiority"...or their dhimmi status to explain why they've done so little in life. In short they're used to blaming other people for their own shortcomings.

I lived briefly among "Arabs", though it's a mistake to call Iraqis, Kuwaitis, Egyptians, "Arabs". My father, a Christian Assyrian, lived almost his entire life in Iraq and Kuwait, surrounded by "Arabs". Sure, he suffered disabilities...but nothing like Blacks suffered in America...or any number of people have been forced to undergo. But he didn't use it as an excuse...instead he worked hard, didn't blame anyone, saw the good around him which far outweighed the bad, and rose steadily in the Islamic world, first as a doctor and officer, then a psychiatrist and finally as director of the Health Department for Kuwait.

Perhaps he could have gone farther if things had been different...but then again, maybe the very obstacles placed before him awakened a determination to beat the odds....maybe he did so well just because it was made difficult. Who can tell...but one thing is certain; nothing can be achieved through hatred...and people like Jumblat have convinced themselves that they're justified in feeling hatred...because of what "they suffered". But what they really suffer from is an inability to look themselves squarely in the eye and place blame where it actually belongs; themselves. Not the world. not fate and not Arabs...but themselves.

It isn't the world's fault, or the world's obligation to smooth our path for us. At birth we are all dealt a certain hand. The difference between the healthy person and the failure is that he or she doesn't bemoan the cards dealt...doesn't ask for another set of cards and doesn't resent other players because they might have a better hand...instead the healthy person spends a lifetime trying to play the best game with the cards dealt. And it's precisely this that Jumblat, Aprim and even Minimal Guy can't do. Rather than play their best they whine and complain about the injustice of their hand and how they would do so much better if only they had another set of cards. But they betray themselves because we know they'd complain just as loudly at the next hand, and the next and the next. the only way to satisfy them, to shut them up, is to allow them to cheat...allow them to pick out the cards they want that would ensure a victory.

Jumblat's failure as a human bean is Jumblat's doing, not any Arab's. His hatred of Arabs has more to do with Jumblat's need to remove the onus from himself and onto someone else, than with what any Arab actually did to him. What Jumblat presents as "facts" are nothing more than his excuses for where he is. It's the Arabs and their "sense of superiority" which has kept Jumblat from reading English language dictionaries, or getting a decent education, or educating himself. he's ranged over books and articles looking only for what would justify his own weaknesses...anything that he could use to explain away the low position in life he's managed to settle in.

It's funny; In order to make my case, I HAVE to have an open forum because it's the best way...but for Jumblat or Aprim or Magpie to make their case, they HAVE to have a closed forum that bans and deletes and regulates. That, by itself, settles which has things to hide and fear and can only exist or maintain himself by lies and cheating.
