Having been at this for ten plus years certain patterns of thought have emerged, or been noticed.

The most obvious and disturbing is that no one feels the need to prove anything or even make a coherent argument...the most outlandish statements, such as "We are descended from Ashurbanipal and ONLY we Christians can be", so cries out for some sort of explanation that the lack of any attempt leaves you wondering about the rest of their claims.

Another fixed idea is that everyone else from that time disappeared or later became Muslim. The problem here is that those making this statement say it is ridiculous to claim that each and every last Assyrian was wiped out, but apparently each and every last Babylonian, Sumerian and Hurrian WAS. Then there is this problem of making an ethnicity also into a select religious group, so that whenever an assyrian converted to Islam, particularly Islam, he somehow stopped being ethnically assyrian.

Then there's the bit about anyone ever mentioning the ancient Assyrians, such as "I was born there" becoming an ethnic Assyrian, by virtue of the place of birth....it is possible of course to become "nationally" a citizen of whichever country you are born in but you don't become one of them ethnically...at least not until several generations have gone by....but anyone passing through "Assyria" and having a child there was delivered of another Assyrian, magically related, by genetic material, to Ashurbanipal, no matter if the parents were Spanish or Gallic or Celtic.

Then there's the business of seeking to discredit any and all arguments otherwise unanswerable by calling the opponent a Qurd or Arab or traitor. What difference does any of that make to someone who is dealing in facts and not fiction? And so what if ones opponent "hates" one? What does that have to do, again, with the facts of the case? Nothing....unless there ARE no facts and all that is being expressed is team spirit and "feelings" in which case your opponent is obviously hurting yours....but so what? Get your feelings hurt, go ahead, it happens every day, but still try to argue the facts, hurt or not...enemies or not. Of course if you are on the field of battle you're up against ENEMIES...why should that shock and dismay you...what did you expect, friends? So, roll up your sleeves, gather your best ammunition and FIGHT.

...there's much more but later.
