One of the reasons the Nuclear Deal was signed by the Democrats, and why the Ahmadinejad-types and people further to the right of him are against it in Iran, is because President Rohani is said to want to open Iran's economy, "liberalize" it to the global Neoliberal model by attempting to attract foreign investment by deregulation, deregulation, deregulation... and shaping Iran's socialist-tish (by that I mean state-owned enterprises, especially oil and gas) to that of U.S. client-states. I read this analysis by an Iranian writer who was basically saying Rohani is on a Gorbachev-like mission to open-up Iran economically.
