I remember the ceramic jars of masta quite well and the thick creme (kha'ma). I'm fortunate to live in a neighborhood where I can still purchase fresh baked barbari bread and my mother makes great kha'ma, but as far as honey, we're not as lucky to get the rich tasty honey of my childhood. When we settled in Pacifica in 1979 (near Khatoun's before they moved to Freemont) I was so disappointed with Wonder Bread that I felt betrayed by my parents since they told me that everything is available in the U.S. My other disappointment was that there were no bidets in the bathrooms, since in Iranian homes there are usually a hose in all bathrooms, and bidets in others. --------------------- |
