I was in Baghdad the year of the Revolution, 1958....I remember those scenes very well...the train windows from which we would buy buffalo cream and honey and fresh baked bread for breakfast, brought right up to the windows in baskets...the cafe scenes and better yet the nights on the river with barges tied up as floating restaurants with colored bulbs strung up on poles and reflecting in the water...people came home from work, showered and changed and then went out to eat on warm nights,,,kebobs filled the air....the nights asleep on roofs with a zillion stars...so beautiful, and corrupt...but much better than what Americans have brought the people.
