The only thing I know about Shaykh Qardawi with suicide bombings was that he sympathized with Palestinians who just lost their families because of an Israeli air strike and turn to it out of desperation. He is not the kind who would condone killing innocent people. He has been attacked by the media for a long time now because he is very outspoken and criticizes the regimes and dictators in teh Middle East. Qardawi is actually one of very few Muslim scholars who actually respected and his rulings are usually accepted by Muslims of all persuasions. He has authored many books on Islam and I have one which is called "halal wa haraam" which is basically what is allowed and what's not based on sharia. He was the one who actually refutes them hardcore and extremists who say that even dressing like a non-Muslim is prohibited for Muslims and all the other silly things they say. Other issues such as music, painting, drawing, beard etc are all refuted by him. There are a few who criticize him because of his rulings but they can't really refute him because he is a true scholar unlike them fake government appointed ones. He is a Sunni yet even Shias respect him as well and he was among those who issued the ruling refuting those Muslims who kept saying Shias are disbelievers. I learned a lot from this man during my time with Islam and I know Hamza Yusuf likes him a lot, and if so, there is no way this shaykh can condone terrorism or support violence against innocent people. He was the only shaykh who actually spoke out about the Iraq war and the sanctions, and that led to him getting kicked out of Egypt. --------------------- |
