That goes back to the assumption and comparing a watch, a car or a toaster to the universe and humans and everything else which is far more complicated. Of course one can always take a cheap or easy way out(just say god made it) but that doesn't become so easy once questions begin to pop out and there are far more questions and ambiguity. When I was religious, I had somehow convinced myself that I had proof and that everything was from god. I later couldn't accept that anymore and I didn't have proof at all. I had faith which I confused with proof. If I had proof then faith no longer needed and I wouldn't have doubts.

The belief in a creator or god is blind and not based on evidence or logic. If there truly were a god, then he must be seen as a failure, imperfect and did a very poor job of giving proof for his existence. In one place, he doesn't want you to just believe in something blindly, yet that's exactly what religion is. You have to rely on the words of people from a long time ago that they were in contact with god, and all of their stories and claims are true. If there was a god and he was perfect and all wise, as religions claim, then he would have no problem with giving some indisputable evidence for his existence but he didn't so then he expects people to obey or face punishment(which means you failed the "test"). It isn't a fair test to begin with and then you got to realize how many religions there are in this world, and only one is true, that means everyone else will be in hell. And let's face it, Billy Graham wouldn't be a christian if he were born to a Somali Muslim family or a Hindu family. Ashur and every assyrian Christian fanatic wouldn't be christians if they were born into a family of another religion.

That means they are only 'saved' because they were fortunate enough to be born whatever family and tradition. There is so much more which automatically disqualifies religion. God can't be proven and nobody has ever been able to. No matter or how arrogant a Muslim or Christian or whatever religion is, he can't prove anything and they only have faith, and faith is no different from following something blindly.

In this case, it is the follower of a religion saying there is a god. This is a bizarre claim and it is the job of the one making the statement to prove there is one. So far, nobody has been able to do that in thousands of years and nobody will ever be able to because you will always have the usual "you just got to have faith" and that won't fly. There have always been people who did not believe this stuff and they existed even in the times of whatever religion was first invented and they existed before. The majority, and the most eminent scientist, are all nonbelievers or atheists if you wanna use that term. they do not believe there is a god, and these people use logic all day and they would be the first to believe if they saw any evidence, but there isn't any.

Most of the stories in religious scriptures can't be verified or proven and much more. Christians have been waiting for 2,000 years for Jesus and it was believed he was to come back in his lifetime and the lifetime of his companions. Never happened and then later generations just kept spreading this tale so they could justify the religion. Then Muslims jumped along with their absurdities and then you got Jews. Can any sane person believe some character who lived some 2000 years ago will come flying from the sky with angels and go to war with sword and fight some other dude in this day and age? It's absurd the more one examines it but it only makes sense if the individual never questions, is afraid and needs to make him feel better.

there are tens of thousands of religions, and then each one has splits and doubts among them. if there was a god, he sure has done a poor job and it is much easier to doubt him then believe there is one. I can say without a doubt that I don't believe there is a god, and especially not like given to us through religion. I can go on and on. I do not reject the believe in god because I didn't get something or some tragedy happened to me. Nothing happened except I just wised up and got myself together. Let the believer provide the evidence, and then there won't be no worry about needing books, missionaries and doubts or more demands. Everyone would believe without a doubt since it be a fact and not an opinion or some dubious claim.
