...and all I promised is a place where you can be asured that it will never be deleted or banned or tampered with. That's all the service we provide...which is all we ask of the other forums....let us post, we'll defend ourselves just fine and will never ever but never feel "insulted".

You never made comments about the article itself, all you did was insult me.

..the article itself, as best as I remember, had nothing new or compelling about it...nothing more than the usual christo-nationalist point of view that we've been hearing about for ages. I merely wished to point out that you aren't an Assyrian...not in the "lineal-descent-you-owe-me-a-country way.

My reply to you was not a judgement, i was asking why YOU are judging me.

...I explained that...and I wasn't judging either, I didn't say you were a "bad" person for saying you are Assyrian, just that you are mistaken...are you perfect, do you never make mistakes...have you never pointed out the errors of others?...I was just making a point, expressing my belief about these sorts of claims...this is hardly something to get upset about...you can't control the world...you can't control other people...your comment that you prefer to be deleted rather than engage, unless it's by your rules, is unrealistic and a little immature...it's fine if you're going to remain behind locked doors...but, as Tiglath famously said, "Assyrian is a verb, not a noun".

What you wrote had nothing to do with my article which is why i responded in the way i did. For 30 years i've had arrows thrown at me and if i was afraid of them or running from them i would have stopped writing a long time ago.

...well then why did you express a preference for being deleted rather than being allowed the freedom to express yourself...and accept the consequences...as I've taught my children to do? Why must you also control the reactions to what you freely speak? Where do my freedoms come in? You can say what you want about me...as you are now. I will protect your right to do so because it's the best way of protecting my own freedoms...it's freedom as a principle I'm talking about, not the freedom to be agreed with and left alone once you exercise your own freedom. Must the rest of us lose ours just to make the world free of "insults" for you?

I just dont like to be insulted and disrespected.

...I can never be disrespected....very rarely and then only by people who matter...and if THEY show me disrespect I know I must have dome something to bring it on....for the rest, I'm hardly going to care when any old dweeb says something insulting....people have to exist on the same level before an insult, or a compliment, means anything. If you're going to bristle at every perceived slight...how can you possibly do anything in this insulting world?

Like you say, we have freedom of speech and just like you think you have the right to insult me, i have the right to defend myself.

...of course you do...only I never insulted you. Why are you people so think skinned? I merely said that you are not an Assyrian...where is the insult in that? From my point of view it's merely a statement of fact...if you disagree then challenge me on it, if you feel up to it. But simply getting your feelings hurt...even if you hold your breath till you turn blue and pound your fists on the ground till doomsday will not make a bit of difference to anything.

>The reason i posted my article on your site was because i had sent it to Zinda magazine to Wilfred Bet Alkhas and he has twice not published my articles without giving me any reason. But when i wrote an article about Sargon Dadesho he tried in every way to print my letter and he did just that.

...like I said, you and everyone else is free to post whatever they want...makes no difference to us. But...as living, breathing and thinking human beans, we reserve our god-given and constitutionally protected right to do the same: post whatever we want in response. We're a civilized lot over here...we deal with controversy intellectually, when we can refrain from howling in delight. You can write for Dadeeshoo, or against. But, extending that freedom to you you'll understand that we reserve the right to be free also...I'm sure you were less than flattering to Dadeeshoo.

>Just for future reference when commenting on someones writing you might want to focus more on the article itself rather than the person who wrote it and refrain from personal attacks.

..it wasn't personal. I make the same comment about all of you who claim to be Assyrian...especially when you bring Jesus into it...who wasn't Assyrians and had nothing to say to Assyrians they hadn't thought of first...except the Messiah business which definitely played no part in Assyrian history...but is a Hebrew way of getting somebody else to solve their problems for them...soemthing the Assyrians never did, or wished for or needed. But that's another story.

And lastly it is people like yourself who associate Assyria with religion so its no wonder we have all this conflict in our churches.

...not at all. I point out how the Assyrian heritage has been hijacked by you Christians....if a woman fights off a rapist you can hardly call her a proponent of violence...she's merely defending herself against attack...Christianity is the bloodiest religion ever dreamed up....Christians have killed more Christians than anyone else ever bothered to, maybe because they know something we don't. Christ has been a disaster for the Middle East...I simply want to point that out. That and the fact that Christians insist we have to be Christian or we aren't Assyrian...you people never see yourselves as attacking anyone...and when people respond to your attacks, you blame THEM for being "violent".

..in any case...this forum remains a free and open forum, which is anathema to Christian Assyrians....because they are neither.
>
>Sharleen Will (Scotland)
>EXTREMELY PROUD ASSYRIAN

...okay. If you say so. But I don't think Assyrians were ever content to write "we are great", without the deeds to back it up...like the very few surviving remnants we see in those museums...Incidentally, that article you posted appeared before more people, readers if not writers, than you'll get on the other forums combined. So if exposure is what you want, you've come to the right place...if reaffirmation and "respect" is what you want...you're on your own.

...and you do........?
