I met Ferlinghetti once.....I went with Narsai David to get his impression of a model I had made for a Mark Twain monument. I didn't know who he was except he owned a dusty bookshop...we met upstairs in his office...don't recall what he thought of the model and I don't know why we even went to see him for his opinion. He looked like dirty spaghetti......not very impressive.

I give the Beats credit for at least having had enough of normal whitebread society.....maybe I didn't care for how they expressed it but that they did, and got shit for it, was heartening.
