"I don't think our food is that bad for our health. Rice (and Carbs) aren't really as negative... this was more of a myth from the early 90s. The low carb fad will go the way of the Atkins diet. Americans jump from fad diet to fad diet.

Realistically, our food is unbelievably balanced. Notice how many of our main dishes are an integration of protein (bean, pea, lentil, or meat/fish), carb (rice or gourr gourr/wheat, or piqota), and of course fresh, seasonal vegetables in a stew. Of course, these days we may not be matching our stews with the seasons. Well, some of us are. A few of my relatives only make certain dishes when certain vegetables are in season.
