The beauty of using that word "hope" is that it fills the void of inaction so noticeable and glaring as it is and puts in its place what we in the legal biz call "precatory language." So you sound like you are doing something, anything, when in fact you are doing nothing.

..the most glaring one is that there's no such thing....it's absurd to think direct descendants of the ancients survived "pure" or "true". At the most, at the MOST, we can say that ALL the people of BetNahrain are descended from ALL the people, including Babylonians, Sumerians, Hittites, Jews, Arabs etc. But this isn't what "Assyrians" claim...they say you MUST be Christian to be a real Assyrian...that's ridiculous. Sorry to bring Jesus back into it but these people give you no choice.

but most pressing is that we need to get with the program and right-fast. It's the 21st century, lest we forget. We are dealing with issues/mistakes that have literally plagued us for at least 200 years (since our nakedness started to show): religious affiliation, tribal affiliation and this weird tribal/political melange issue mostly observed in the last 50 years.

...there is nothing to "get with".. We Christians of Iraq HAVE a country already...it's called Iraq, or Uruk, if you prefer....a perfectly good name well before the Assyrian empire so that it encompasses all the people of that region, being of much earlier derivation.

...You're in the legal professions I gather...then you should know there had been no "persecution" of Christians in Iraq...and no "denial" of their language etc. How is it that all the ones complaining about the language all come here SPEAKING it? While the ones "free" in this country and the West are the ones forgetting it?

...Those who cry about persecution were in reality PROsecuted for sedition.....it's that simple. Christians of Iraq have been able to join society at every level in Iraq, witness Dr Donny George, Tariq Aziz and many others...but,as usual, those Christians are called TRAITORS....so give us a break.

>If you want to be treated as a nation, then act like one. You want to be a nation, learn it, teach it. Short of that, there is no "hope"... We now have a new legion of bitches (and I do mean it in the derogatory sense and not against the kind to which my beautiful bichon frisee is a member) taking on the battle cry of stupidity.

...we are NOT a "nation". We don't fit a single definition of nation...except in the archaic sense of an Apache Nation...we go on and on about how we are aq nation when all we are is a religious sect tearing each others hair out.

...they are fools....and oportunists..

>I sometimes wish that I could just freeze, rewind, reorganize, replay some of our situations. I know, I know, I said "wish," not "hope."

...there are Christians still insisting on living in Iraq...ones who never committed sedition, were never prosecuted for what are crimes everywhere on earth and in every country...ask Native Americans..and who've been content since the Arabs first came to live among them...there's no need to freeze or rewind...as soon as the West gets out...and the unfortunate Christians pay, as they did in semele...peace and prosperity will eventually return....but again, if any of our people start talking about what is owed them and how the Muslim government is illigitimate and usurpers, then they too will be PROsecuted and run to the West crying about how they were persecuted.

Did you guys know that at the mesopotamian forum the moderator deletes posts and marks them as "deleted by poster" rather than deleted by moderator? Disgusting.
