...those are the fortunes of war...many people rebelled against the Assyrians in hopes of winning their freedom and independence...as is their right...but the wordl would have remained in a constant state of warfare, far worse thna it has been, had governments not been expected, by their own people most of all, to defend the nation in time of war and especially from treason within.

...I don´t know what periodic pogroms of Assyrians you´re refering to...this is very like claiming that DSaddam engaged in pogroms against the assyrians when all he did was move against those who dealt in sedition, as every government on earth would do...we have to be careful to distinguish what is normal and allowable, no matter how deplorable, conduct granted by nations to each other whern dealing with war but more with insurrection from within...and be careful to only highlight those who act with even more cruelty and harshness than is normal for nations and international law...in this regard the Muslims, Turks especially, have done nothing out of the ordinary, as sad and tragic as it may have been and is among all nations...it is only the Christians who can stand condemned for going beyond the pale of what is allowed and expected of nations, most recently in their declaration that they justify themselves in unilaterally attacking any nation they THINK might move against them some day...this is truly unique and stands apart from accepted international law.

The Turks were no worse and a whole lot better than the dominant Christian nations of their day...and today.
