Your absolutely right with what you wrote, and to be honest Muslim doesen't have choice but to believe in Jesus(pbuh) just in all of God's prophets. No Muslim is a Muslim if he or she, denies any of God's prophets and messengers. If, for example,a Muslim denies Jesus(pbuh), he or she has denied Muhammad and everyone else. The Islamic understanding is that God sent prophets and messengers to every people in the past andthey all brought the same general belief which to worship God alone. In other words, we don't see Jesus(pbuh) as a Christian, Moses(pbuh) as a Jew, and John the babtist (pbuh) as a Sabean. However we see them all as Muslims(those who submitted to God) and don't discrimminate against any of them. In the end, we don't see Muhammad(pbuh) as higher or better than them, but we view him as the final messenger of the same faith and his message confirms the messages of all the previous prophets and messengers. So to deny any of God's prophets is no differen't than denying Muhammad(pbuh) because his duty was to convey the message and confirm the past.

That is why the Quran mentions the stories of the various prophets that came in the past, and it also clears certain misconceptions and lies against previous prophets. When I read the Quran and learned that Jesus(pbuh) was rescued from the crucifixion, my heart was calmed and I was happy to hear the great news. I mean why would anyone who claims to follow Jesus not be happy to hear that, but of course when easy salvation is at risk, the whole senario changes. I have had many interfaith dialogues with pastors and church ministers, and I asked them similar things, they had no answers. They say without the crucifixion there is no salvation and whoever does not believe in the crucifixion is going to hell. This was something I always had difficulties with and that means a poor escimo in northern Canada, who was a good person loved God, tries to obey God the best he knew, and the truth was never exposed to him, such person goes to hell since he did not believe in the blood of Christ, what kind of mercy is that.

Then, if one thinks about it, the Christian understanding is that Jesus(pbuh) had to die on the cross or else there be no salvation, yet when you read the current versions of the Bible, we see a whole differen't picture from Jesus(pbuh). On various occasions throughout the 4 gospels, we see people asking him about salvation, and each and every time he responds the same way, "worship God alone and obey his commanments, and unless your righteousness exceeds that of the Pharisees, one can by no means enter heaven". So where did he say to wait for his death in the near future and everyone can go to heaven by jusyt faith in the death on the cross. On the other hand, if someone sais that one has to be good and live a righteous life, then that proves that the crucifixion never happen to Jesus(pbuh). When someone pays the price and decides to forgive, then if the other person still has to owe, the sacrifice was not valid. You can't forgive a dept, yet later demand the person still be good. But since Christian believe they go to heaven only by his crucifixion, then technically they can behave anyway they want since he already paid the price. Perhabs that explains the behaviors and actions of most Christians.

As I always have made clear, I do not reject Jesus(pbuh) but I reject the faith which has nothing to do with him, and I know that the priests and the elites would never admit these things for they lose membership, power and wealth. That is why they hated Muhammad(pbuh) early on because he cleared Jesus(pbuh) of all the lies against him, and also the blasphemies made by the Jews against him and his righteous mother. The Jews accuse him of being a bastard child(staghfirullah) and accuse his mother of all kinds of things, yet the Quran refutes the allegations and clears both of them from the lies and blasphemies. So, it is clear to me now why the Christian churc leaders avoided real contact with Muhamad(pbuh) early on because they knew that his message was too dangerous for their own political interests. They understood him and knew that he was bringing the same and corrected message that they claimed to follow and instead of reasoning with Muslims and coming to common grounds, they wanted to war against them.

The emperor Heraculis of Byzantum, recognized Muhammad as the final messnegerer in his courtyard and was ready to say the shahada(revert) but his priets and elite church fathers pressured him. The Christian king of Ethiopia, Negus, he accepted Islam without never meeting Muhammad(pbuh) but he recognized the message was the same and when he heard the story of Jesus (pbuh) from the Quran, he rightaway accepted it. There were many other rabbis and l;earned men who embraced Islam during the time, therefore, the angry Church fathers began writing myths and slanders against Islam in order to save their kingdom.

They know we believe in Jesus(pbuh) and recognize his mother. We don't worship them of course, but we rather worship God the creator who send all the prophets and messengers. Then again, there is not a single verse in the modern versions of the Bible where Jesus(pbuh) said "I am God", I am the Father" or "worship me". He always made clear that God was 1 and above all. So the true message of Jesus (pbuh) is rejected by Christians today, and they rather follow what the priests, pastors and church fathers teach about him. We instead follow Jesus rather than priests. We don't have priests, or any kind of luturgy or church power in Islam. The Quran has always been in the possesion of the people both in form and orally. So in the end that is what seperates Jews Muslims and Christians, the Jews fell short by not believing in their messiah Jesus(pbuh) and in the final messenger Muhammad(pbuh) they became prejudice and did not like several prophets because their messages didn't suit their desires, and the Christians, they are far from Jesus and the religion.

But your absolutely right brother Pancho, we should always respect the prophets and even the people of Christianity, but swhen they attack in every way, all one can do is defend him/herself the correct way. We may believe in Jesus(pbuh) but that don't mean we believe in Christianity for we know it has nothing to do with him. It is they who attack members of other religions and not the other way around. Peace be with you.
