I agree with that a 100% and I also believe religions have been a problem for all of the Middle East but Christianity for Assyrians was definitely the worse because it produced bigots. There is something else that should be mentioned about them accepting Christianity and the truth is that the majority did not accept it freely but were forced the same way Armenians were forced by their own king who is regarded a saint today by their church. Much of Mesopotamia, especially the western part, was under Roman rule and there is no doubt that all of the people were forced to accept Christianity when that became the official religion of the empire.

If Europeans were forced by Constantine, what makes the Assyrians different? It is very hard out of pride to leave the religion of one's ancestors and we see today how our nationalists brag today about how they wouldn't leave Christ even at gunpoint. Do they think other people and ancients didn't have such love for their religions and practices? The Armenians practiced the same religion of the Persians until king Tiridates accepted because of financial reward he received. When the king accepts something, the soldiers usually follow and they did just that. After that, many battles were fought between the king's army and the rest of the population. Mass Armenians lost their lives because of resisting this religion and today they are almost all Christian and "proud".

This is an embarrassment to Christians today so they have to accuse Islam of doing the same while trying to clear themselves from this charge. The funny thing is that it isn't Muslim historians who say this about Christianity but it is their own and it is also Christian and other western historians who defend Muslims against such charge and say that Islam showed much tolerance to the conquered peoples within their empire. I was watching a documentary on Iran and it was about Christians and Jews in Iran. There was an Assyrian priest who was talking highly of Khomeini and saying that he never stopped Christians from anything and that Assyrians in Iran are proud of their heritage, religion and also happy Iranian citizens. I also used to have an Assyrian chat buddy who was originally from Iran and he also told me that even under the current government Assyrians still have their own representative in the congress of Iran and they are recognized as Assyrians.

couple of weeks ago I became friends with an Iranian Muslim girl and she knew what Assyrians were and told me she knew many in her country. She knew their denominations and spoke well of them. It is the other way around and it is Christians who display bigotry and hatred toward Muslims. I remember growing up and my family and relatives would refer to Muslim children as scorpions and say that they hate Jesus and all of us. I believed that for a long time and hat blind hate for all Muslims until I studied their religion for myself and also met real practicing Muslims for myself. I now know who hates who and who the real scorpions are. Assyrians have always thought of themselves better than Muslims because they are Christian and not because of Ashur Banipal. iT It is no different from how low class Whites who are treated like shit by their own color yet still think they superior to Blacks because they are "at least white" and Assyrians are no different from that.

A little learning and getting to know one's "enemy" goes a long way. It's funny that I left christianity and was full of rage against it and I also eventually left Islam after losing complete faith in a higher power yet I do not have hatred for Islam and Muslims nor do I have hatred toward Christians but I don't like them because of what they do and not for what they are. Christians of Middle East are the most bigoted people I know.
