I think Turkey should stop repressing speech by pushing laws that punish those accused of "tarnishing Turkishness", which in some right-wing circles enabled and then justified the murder of Turkish-Armenian journalist, Hrant Dink by a 17-year-old Turk nationalist; or the demonization of Muslim-Turkish author and Nobel Prize in Literature recipient, Orhan Pamuk for his remarks about Turkey having murdered 30,000 Qurdish citizens of Turkey and 1.5 million Armenians; and of course, the case of Taner Ackam, whom I mistakenly thought was a Qurdish communist instead of a Turkish communist, who fled Turkey fearing for his life because of his position regarding the genocide and his support of fellow journalist, Hrant Dink.

The only way to come to a reasonable conclusion is to open-up all the archives to historians and let them decide... not politicians or special-interest groups or lobbies. I think a portion of Armenians are less concerned about justice regarding the past, and more focused on using the genocide the way Norman Finkelstein argues that Jewish organizations used the Holocaust ("Holocaust Industry") to justify usurping Arab lands, and to shut down any criticism of Israeli policies. I may be wrong, but Armenians make no bones referring to Eastern Turkey as "Western Armenia", and occupied Karabakh as "Artsakh", the tenth province of the Armenian Kingdom of past. If Turkey concedes that a genocide did in fact take place in the form of state-sanctioned policy (like Hitler's "Final Solution") to wipe-out all Armenians and other Christians, then they put themselves in a precarious position in rendering Eastern Turkey and Karabakh as "disputed territories" in addition to having to pay reparations to the families of the victims and also for lands, properties and possessions confiscated from Christians during the period of the war. It'll never happen.
