Because the American people are dumb enough to believe it and get frightened easy. Every American must know by now that Iraq had no weapons and it had nothing to do with what happened in New York and Washington DC but they can't see the same trick with Iran because that country is just plain crazy and scary, they say. What makes them so scary, nobody seems to know. These are the same people who still confused bin Laden with Saddam Hussein and who are talking about the Pakistani or Indian when they say "Ayrab".
