That's true. The media says that had Saddam stepped down none of this would be necessary but I disagree. I doubt America wanted Saddam to just leave and it be the end of the story. They wanted him to defy and stay so that they could "remove" him which would make it the pretext. America does not want democracies and free elections in any of those countries. Nobody ever wins a war except for the investors. I have a Vietnam vet that works with me and he said that we didn't win the war but we sure as hell killed a lot of people and how does anyone win a war like that, but I told him that the weapon makers and investors of wars always win. The longer a war lasts the better for the wealthy investors. They can say they want freedom and democracies in the Middle East all they want to and they can say they want a stable region when they themselves are the reasons the region is so fucked up, but the truth is that they do not want a govt elected by the people and who will not role over and do whatever America wants.

Iraq use to have democratic election long before Saddam was invented by the US. How is that America is now obliged to teach Iraqis how to live, eat, elect etc when all that was already present before? Had Saddam continued being their puppet, he would still be there but he chose to educate Iraqis and give his population the highest living standards in the region. Now Iraq is a poor and third world country because of the US and Britain. They also can't say they want stability in Iraq because then they would have to leave. They wouldn't build military bases if they had plans to leave soon. They are in Iraq for a very long time and ain't going nowhere.
