..I like GallowayŽs response when faced with criticism of Muslims for placing bombs in baby carriages...he said "the Muslims say 'give us your Apache Helicoptors, fighter jets, stealth bombers, your tanks, missles and bombs and weŽll gladly give you our baby carriagesŽ".

...what possible, sane-sounding, response can you make to such a simple statement of fact that cuts through all the bullshit? I know what Hitchens would say, first heŽd produce a Latin quote and then sneeringly interpret it, into French! and then into English (or maybe give us the German equivalent too) for us dummies, then heŽd reach into his store of semi-useless but impressive knowledge to say that in the 14th century the second cousin of the Earl of Arundel said something that proves you wrong...and heŽd round out your bafflement with a dollop of quantum physics and pinch of molecular biology...and then heŽd give you that cold fish-eyed stare...and if you still werenŽt convinced heŽd tell you to be careful because you are being FILMED and will regret you ever tangled with him next morning.

None of which will have changed, or explained, the reality on the ground.

For a guy who can clear away the bullshit where religion and God is concerned and then heap so much of it on where Islam or Iraq is concerned is just breathtaking to behold. But I know one thing...he makes far more sense in his assessment of God than he does of political fact and reality. He talks about Iraq exactly the way religious people talk about FAITH! He says facts and common sense show us that the existence of god is extremely unlikely and yet canŽt see that it is even MORE unlikely that Iraqis are going to THANK America and Britain for attacking them!!!

...say WHAT?
