When my friends and I get into debates we yell, sometimes curse, and become rather passionate in the heat of the exchange. It's exciting and electric, and I'm the mellowest of the bunch, but none of us ever gets upset. It's like boxing, you get in the ring with someone in your own weight class, you take a few blows, a left-hook, an upper-cut, then you counter punch, slowly adjust, and throw an overhand right. You don't look to the referee and claim the opponent is hitting you too hard. Like I mentioned, I'm a mellow man, but even I've been accused of speaking in an improper tone, or some other thing. What's with all these New Age rules?
