---being poor in Mexico is also very different...anyone here can set up his or her small business....one day you can sell juice...if that fails, you can set up an auto repair business in your front yard...if you donīt have a yard you can fix peopleīs cars where they park...if that fails you can sell mufflers....if that wonīt go you can buy a wrench and be a plumbver...you donīt need a license or fees paid or much of anything...you can keep trying and trying...and, if you find abandoned land, you can buuild a home from cardboard or reeds and palm leaves and in a few years claim possession...if there is anything Mexicans hate itīs absentee landlords who merely hold onto to land as speculation....Zapataīs spirit lives in this country...it was he who insisted that the land belongs to those who work it.

...businesses along the coasts complain that itīs almost impossible to hire employees for their badly paying jobs because itīs so damn easy, and pleasant, to live off the land....fish are abunant, mangos and papaya and avocados and other fruit are practically wild and with very little effort you can at least provide a shelter for you and family and find food to eat...try anything like that in the United States....sure, America is "great"...but it got that way by stepping on its own people first and then everybody else...itīs a great place if your ambition is to get rich...everybody else just wastes away watching on teevee as they interview the wealthy and tour their homes, closets and ten-car garages.
