...that's true. For all their talk of a loving god they do still live in fear of his displeasure...I mean look at what he did to his own kid, who was perfectly innocent. I think that's the reason people who firmly believe in heaven are terrified to actually die as the necessary step to actually going there....because they more than likely will go to the other place.

..I don't know a single atheist who believes in either place or is afraid of dying...we know it's inevitable and since we don;t believe in an afterlife we strive for all the satisfaction and pleasure we can get on earth, which usually tires us out so that if we can reach 70 or 80 we've seen enough and done enough and more of the same would just be boring, so why not rest and see if there is anything "else"?

..whereas the religious folk can never be sure they will get into heaven instead of hell....so they live and die in dread.
