The scary thing about all of this is that these folks don't give a shit about the world collapsing... they want it to be destroyed, they are speeding it up, because they are eagerly anticipating Armageddon and The End Times when the good Christians will be heading to heaven via the Rapture. This is why we hear the nutty con artists like Christian Zionist John Hagee scream in ecstasy about Jews returning to Israel to catalyze the Second Coming, during which 144,000 Jews "will serve with Christ as king-priests for a thousand years", while the rest of the 15 million Jews will burn in eternal fires with the rest of us non-believers. The number 144,000 is also significant in Islam, also in the Maya calendar and New Age touchy-fucky groups. Maybe there's something to it.
