...I sent him my reply to his letter to Obama...he responded the next day. of course I won't post his response until I get his permission, but here is my reply to him...

Hello Paul,

Basically you take the worst parts of what some Muslims, including governments do, and compare them to the best of Christianity. This is unfair and not a valid comparison. For every brother of yours who was abused by a Muslim for smoking a cigarette, a thousand Jews were burned to death by Christian Germans, simply for their religion. Now, you will say, " but, they were not REAL Christians"...okay, fair enough. But are you trying to tell me that the Muslims who abused your brother are REAL Muslims?

If you compare the best in Christianity with the best in Islam, you find no difference. But consider, Islam is 700 years younger than Christianity...if you go back 700 years in Christian history you will see all the worst things you complain of today about Islamic failures.

My complaint is that you use the worst in Islamic practices to condemn the Islamic RELIGION, Muslims and then Arabs too. That would be like calling the Nazis the only real and typical Christians...clearly unfair and inaccurate.

What I gave you were also facts, and nothing but. The Arabs did indeed save our different sects...and allowed them to survive...had Christian nations conquered us that would not have happened. And indeed, Christian nations killed Muslims and Jews wherever they found them, eventually...while to this day Christians live throughout the Middle East.

Anyway, thanks for your response....keep the faith.

sincerely,

piss. It's very like detailing all the horrors inflicted on Jews by Christians for 2000 years...and then adding to that total the crimes Catholic committed against Protestant plus the crimes of Protestant against Catholic, then adding to that tally the number of innocent Africans and Latin Americans plus the millions of Native North Americans all killed in the name of Christ and calling all these murders and tortures "typical of Christianity". This is what Paul basically does with Islam and the crimes committed by humans in its name.

Yes, atrocious acts were committed by many people of BOTH religious persuasion...but they were not a result of the teachings of Christ or Muhammad....or can be laid at the feet of the religion per se. But even if you wanted to do that, the crimes of Christianity far, far outweigh anything Islam has done since its inception, period.
