Suicide Bomber....so?

For months after Pearl Harbor there was nothing but bad news for America and the Allies...Hitler had defeated the French, Great Britain stood alone, and in the Pacific the Japanese were winning victory after victory...in a desperate move to lift morale, and with little thought to actual success or the cost in lives, Roosevelt demanded our military DO something....anything, never mind the risks...and so the military came up with a bombing mission over Tokyo, just to show the Japanese that they were not immune and give them a taste of what was to come, if we could manage it.

Col. Doolittle was picked to lead a squadron of B-25s on what was whispered to be a ¨suicide mission¨to bomb innocent old people, women and children JUST to terrorize a civilian population...we weren´t making any progress against the Japanese military, so we were going to bomb their children....sound familiar?

The odds of the pilots and crews even reaching Tokoy were slight...made even less by the fact that the aircraft carriers were spotted and so let the planes fly some 200 miles further out....if the pilots even managed to get to Tokoyo and drop their bombs, they stood little chance of actually making it to China, where even if they did, the Japanese on the mainland had a good chance of capturing them...and many might have ditched in the ocean and drowned. It was a one-way mission of probable no return...and the odds of having any real impact on the war were slight...but rhey did it anyway, out of DESPERATION....now does it sound familiar?

At every stage, after the pilots and crews volunteered, they were given the chance to back out...right up to the moment they prepared to leave the carrier deck....the mission was cleartly a desperate attempt, a suicide mission, to bring terror to a civilian population...with all our battleships and planes and bombs and numbers and might we could do nothing against their military, so we opted to attack their families in a suicide mission....and we were PROUD that our boys were willing to throw their lives away, if need be, in an HEROIC attempt to spread terror.

Give me a break...FOX can stop thinking for me...Obama can stop thinking for me....our '' enemies'' have not the weaponry to match us...no one in the MidEast makes weapons...they have to buy them from US! They would LOVE to field a military and go toe to toe with us...and if they could, our '' brave heroes'' might finally see what they´re made of when they have to fight on an equal footing and not against women and children who have to make up weapons as they go....so, sneakily attacking with home-made bombs has to be, at the least, placed in the same category as Col. Doolittle´s raid and HE got the Congressional Medal of Honor for HIS suicide mission.
