...an item in the news reminded me of an idea I had some time back...one I'm sure shared by others...the story concerns a guy who took it on himself to repair potholes in his town, after his car was damaged falling into one and after waiting too long on city government to do it.

..the story takes place in a small town where there are lots of potholes...the town is strapped for tax revenues because of the economy and jobs being shipped elsewhere etc. One guy, he can be as colorful and eccentric as you like, is the hero of our story...he watches from his house or shack, as cars pass by day in and day out, bumping into and over the potholes on the street...the town mayor happens to own an auto shop and is doing quite well charging for repairs; new shocks, tires, rims etc.

The hero has had enough, especially after his car is damaged on another street in town, for the second time, and he can barely afford parts...the repairs he does himself. When he offers to help fix cars for people who can no longer afford the mayor's shop, the mayor gets pissed because he's cutting into his business....also the town's storage yard is shut down due to not having many employees left...but behind the fence is the equipment and material to fix all the potholes....just no workers...so one night our hero hops the fence and drives the backhoe through the fence on his way out, carrying gravel and whatever else they use, to patch some holes around town.....he's arrested and tossed in jail but by then our heroine has inspired others to follow and soon the townspeople are patching holes themselves using the material and equipment bought with THEIR money...and the mayor is even more pissed...

It's not much of a story but the point is when capitalists and politicians, who feed at their assholes, tell us "there is no money to pay for...." they aren't telling the whole truth....as long as there are PEOPLE, we have everything we need to fix ANYTHING...and the idea that a lack of money means we all have to sit idle, while our cars break or our air turns foul, because "there is no money for...." is ludicrous and shows just how much damage has been done to Human Beans by capitalism.
