...let's say that I was mistaken or wrong in my actions towards Jackie...let's say that Tiglath was wrong as well and that Dr. Eden Naby was also wrong in her statements about that prison doctor, Norman Solkha, who's suing her...let's say all three of us went way overboard. Still, you have to admit that it's something unusual for Assyrians to take the kind of action that forces people to sue them for defamation and libel...oh yes, let's throw in Dadeeshoo and say the Modesto Bee was wrong to do its investigation of him that prompted him to threaten to sue it for libel.

But what is business-as-usual in our community is the license people have felt they had to engage in shady practises...to backstab...to claim innocence based of technicalities and to harrass individuals whom they're used to running over.

Let's say all of us were mistaken and wrong to speak out and write as we did...but one positive things comes out of this...the NEXT time someone agrees to believe in and speak out in behalf of a financial scheme that sounds too good to be true..or someone decides to spread rumors and gossip BEHIND someone's back...or makes an ass of himself in public thinking no one would dare point it out...or thinks to get away with claiming he has doctorates...the NEXT time someone is tempted to play games in our community because he or she is convinced no one would dare challenge them...at LEAST they might look long and a lot harder at such financial schemes..or the temptation to spread rumors....or claim degrees...they MIGHT think twice...and that's a great service to us all.

Reading the statements taken out of context made by Tiglath and myself in this document would convince people that we're the kind to pull wings off butterflies and relish causing people pain...but what's missing is the ruin, the dashing of dreams of financial security...the frail incredulity of people who trusted and hoped to make their declining years a little less insecure...missing are the statements by the people fleeced in this scam...I'm sure THEY lost sleep and had headaches etc.

There's no way a ponzi scheme ISN'T recognizeable...what puts it across is NOT the enthusiasm for it of the guy you write the checks to...we EXPECT him to be sold on the idea...what puts it across and gets the money flowing are the intermediaries...the trusted ones in the community who appear to be disinterested parties simply encouraging YOU to take advantage of a great deal.

Suzy David and the priests were the main selling points to this scam...Sulelman knew that...and THEY should have known it too...they should have asked the hard questions...the simplest of those being just what will make all this incredible profit for people? What possible secrets was Suleman privy to that would bring in such high dividends..and if they WERE such hot tips, why was Suleman out drumming up investors? If he stumbled on an oil field would he rush out to find investors or would he buy it himself?

In retrospect you can always see a ponzi scheme for what it was...but people like respected lawyers and even priests in our community have an EXTRA obligation..to themselves as well as the community. if they're going to risk their reputation and good names by supporting such scams..knowing as they must that their endorsements will be the deciding factor for many people...old people risking their retirements as well as young people just starting out with hopes perhaps of buying their first home...that these lawyers and priests have a tremendous moral obligation to be ESPECIALLY dilligent in how they represent ANY financial scheme that relies on the life savings of people who can ill afford to take such risks but who are also ESPECIALLY prone to believing they can benefit as promised...promised by people they are told to trust...people who NOW wail about their "ruined reputations" and "inability to sleep" and damage to THEIR "financial standing".

These people, however they did it, caused irreprable damage to many many others...in the future....knowing the risks they run if a financial scam they're thinking of backing proves to have been fraudulent and someone as gutsy as Tiglath dares "slander them"...they may at LEAST think twice...or five times...and THAT can only be good, for potential investors and the entire community...it would also be a lot better for people like Suzy David and the priests.

Tiglath may have turned out to have taken a bullet for all those in the future who might be scammed by another Suleman...on that day, if it ever comes again...perhaps no lawyer will step forward to praise such a scheme, remembering the risks Suzy David incurred...and a lot of misery and heartache and lost sleep and retirement savings and savings in general will be spared.
