A mer ADVICE to our INTELLECTUALS!

Dear all:

Shlama Ashuraya +

It is a self evident that UNFORTUNATELY we possess two Assyria Websites, i.e., the MESOPOTAMIAN and the BET-NAHRAIN that are degrading the ASSYRIANISM with their venomous messages and attacks to certain individuals.

No question that there are people of integrity too who are posting their input, but as I see it that such people should not associate themselves with such people who are damaging our cause.

My advice will be that they should distance themselves to involve with them period for a simple reason that their way of running a WEBSITE is not ETHICAL and not ASSYRIAN .

I hope, that I am not offending anyone , but my intentions are clear that such WEBSITES are not serving this nation , but serving the OPERATORS of such WEBSITES goals and agendas which are in most of the time in contradiction with our Assyrian nationals goals.

In conclusion, with all due respect, that such WEBSITES are a disgrace to our nation and should be rejected by all o us period.

..in other words, let's ban and delete...these petty tyrants understand nothing of free speech, which they think means letting everyone whom they agree with post "freely". That's not it...where's the big deal in that? The whole idea is to preserve the right of the MINORITY opinion to be heard...after all, isn't that what THEY demand in Iraq? Don't they keep hollering that the only way Iraq can have a REAL democracy is if the RIGHTS OF THE MINORITY ARE RESPECTED? And EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL?

Yet here they are, in the land of free speech, more or less...and they want CONTROLLED speech so that they, their own majority, can remove a minority THEY don't like....what are they complaining about Iraq for? Aren't they advocating the same disrespect and stifling and second-class citizenship that they accuse Iraq of aiming at dissident assyrians??? And in a nation that has at least made a valiant effort to protect the rights of all to equal freedom of expression? Their point of view fits perfectly in the kinds of backward places they came from...all they want from freedom is the freedom to deny others their freedom.

Look at us in contrast...we live up to the very highest ideal of free speech...even to the point where I go around dragging other points of view to post here...so we can consider them and respond, freely, as is our right. We don't BAN people we don't agree with...why should we? They ban themselves in time...what could be more respectful? Of others as well as of ourselves?

Free Speech is a noble principle, not a billyclub.
