Leaders of NYPD cops say that they warned that the demonstrations caused by the grand jury decisions not to indict police in Fergusson and New York, would eventually lead to hostility towards police...they say the blood starts at the mayor's office because he was critical of police practices.....in a society where the police are valued above all else and even above the law, you have a true police state...that DOESN'T mean goose-stepping and funny facial hair..it means the people come to see the police as their saviors and protectors...in other words the powerful can treat the populace in any way they wish, can deny health and education and recreation and culture and art and music, instead pushing a WORK/SHOP vision of "life"..and whatever goes wrong as a result can be handled by the police.

The next time the cops can "reasonably" argue that if people are allowed to demonstrate at all, it will lead to murdered cops...and who wants that?

O'Reiley was his usual clueless self when he said that whenever one person in a crowd throws a rock or breaks a window, the rest of the crowd, even though they are peaceful, must immediately disperse or else they "accomplices" and are equally guilty....of course. What an easy job for a police provacateur...just toss a rock and right away the entire demonstration is culpable and must disperse...or else.

O'Reiley makes much of his popularity...as if that confers an exalted status...in many plays Shakespeare makes the point that he who rests his case on the common herd is in great jeopardy because the herd is fickle and, eventually, wrong in many ways...at every stage in history there were the conservatives who wanted things to remain as they were and looked at the minority, who wanted change, as their enemy...O'Reily would have been the champion of the flat-earth majority...of the cannibalism majority...of the slavery majority...of the women's second-class status majority...he would have been the darling of every conservative and reactionary majority who feared change..is that really something to brag about?

History left them all behind..and it will leave O'Reiley behind...he's of yesterday, not tomorrow. That was most evident in the Gay marriage issue...the herd changed its mind and O'Reiley was forced to change his tune...not from any noble motive or education but simply because he had go with the new direction of the crowd...that's where his money comes from.

The guy is totally unprincipled...you know that because he makes agreat deal of his "principles".
