...but a forum, in another words; a common marketplace of ideas...let me take a stab at what I mean when I say there is no Assyrian religion.

Have you ever noticed that the name of each religionīs god is included somewhere in its practitioners name...hence you find Yahwe in Yahweism.....Christ in Christianity....Buddha in Buddhism etc. This doesnīt hold true for all religions but certainly for the ancient ones, of which the Assyrian religion was one.

The only true Assyrian religion is the ancient one of which there are no practioners today....just as the only true Jewish religion is the ancient one which, however, happens to be still in practise today...same is true for Christianity which is also still in practise today...and let us not forget Muhammadism. If a Jew converts to Christianity he is no longer a follower of Judaism and real Jews would no longer consider him to be a Jew....same is true for a Christian...give up Christ and you can hardly call yourself a CHRISTian. And so with being Assyrian...give up Ashur and his ancient religion and you can not be ASHURian.

I know you will counter this by saying that "Assyrian" is an ethnic/national name and therefore an Assyrian today can be Christian and still be Assyrian...like an American can be Jewish, Muslim, Christian or none of the above....but you people always want it every which way...if Assyrian is truly a national name then any Muslim can be Assyrian....right?

In brief...you have invented a nationally for yourselves and adopted a Jewish religion...which you claim makes no difference at all to your continuing to be Assyrian...but there is no recognized or accepted Assyrian nationality...if you live in America you are American...and if you follow Christ you are Christian, not Jewish or Muslim and certainly not Assyrian....simple, no?

You people are Nestorian Christians, mostly, whoīve meerely tacked on the word "Assyrian" to your Nestorian culture and now want to call THAT "Assyrian". Just as you did with your Nestorian, Church of the East churches in 1976, when the word "Assyrian" was added on.

Itīs a cute bit of trickery, but no more than that.
