...it is almost beyond belief that the Gay Revolution happened at all...that it gained its power and acceptance so quickly into the mainstream....and it is mind-boggling to consider what its effects have been.

...It took the battle right into the heart of racist, homophobic America...it has induced several states to go completely bonkers by passing obviously discriminatory laws...it has helped to expose the wheedling hypocrisy of those who think they're fooling anyone by disguising their discriminatory legislation behind words such as "freedom" and "liberty" and "religious freedom"...all of which was said by these same people only a few decades ago about giving Blacks full and equal rights...when your religion says you must discriminate, then your religion must bow to our civil laws and Constitution.

No one's religious rights extend to denying anyone their basic HUMAN rights...you don't like Gays? Then don't marry one....you don't like sodomy, then don't do it(or just do it with your woman)....you don't want to serve donuts to Gay people in your shop, TOO BAD.

It's the deal the rest of us make with you when you apply for your business license through OUR government, which serves us all and not just you and your god, that you will treat ALL of us fairly....when we, the people, give you that license, it is to SELL DONUTS in your shop...not to practice your religion in it.

No one is denying you your religious rights...what we're denying you is the "right" you claim your religion gives you to deny US equal rights and protection under our Constitution...this is not Afghanistan, we do not have sharia law here....as these same people used to tell us when we protested the Vietnam War, "If you don't like it here, LEAVE".

...there's is so much more of lasting benefit that Gay Rights have brought to our society, it's touched every aspect of our culture and politics, and for the better...and it all started when Gay people bravely came out of the closet...when religious folk were doing their best to make it so costly and dangerous to do so in order to keep the Gay Tide in...it didn't work....and when more and more brothers, sisters, parents and relatives and friends and your baker and auto mechanic and favorite teacher and movie star came out and we saw them and knew them and realized that they had been dear to us all along, we were all forced to confront the simple fact that we did NOT want our people to suffer and be beaten and be discriminated against and denied the basic rights and freedoms the rest of us took for granted and enjoyed.

...what finally moved this log jam, since the Stonewall Riots, was as simple as Gay people coming out to us....that started the change, the change which changed everything else.

...just today the Attorney General of North Carolina said he would not defend the hastily passed law barring transgenders from using toilets which accord with their gender identity and not what it says on their birth certificate...he said the law was patently discriminatory and unconstitutional....and, of course, major corporations instantly warned that they would either stop doing business with the state or go elsewhere...costing the people of the state billions and billions and jobs way into the future...for one thing the schools would instantly lose 4.5 billion in federal funds through failure to comply with title X.

..the state will, of course, cave....they have to because we all know, and they know, that money trumps Jesus every time.

This sea change in our Puritanical society began with the Stonewall Riots and was fueled and carried to success through the hard though simple act of coming out and being honest.
