...you have two people who need to be loved and stroked....and Trump has been used to that kind of treatment because he pays people to gather round him....Hitchens was the darling of a special class of at the well-educated and activist...he too basked in the approval he got.

...but now Trump, though still loved by his core lovers is being hated more and more by everybody else, even his own party. He traded being "loved" by his employees, to be "loved" by the poorly educated while everyone else in the land hates and makes fun of him and vows ANYBODY but Trump....and he doesn't have a good history, in fact he's a UGE crybaby.

..and Hitchens had to know that the people he began hanging out with at the end of his life were not the best..and, in the case of his Islamophobia, that includes the smart/stupid Dawkins and Harris/Maher.

..especially within the last two years, when you go back and compare the nonsense Hitchens was selling about how we have liberated Iraq and gotten rid of "bad people", to what Galloway was saying then, and how things have turned out, Hitchens comes out all the more the fool/tool.

...oh why? The only kind guess I can make is that I honestly believe he loved his children and may have been worried about leaving them some financial cushion, hence all that writing for Vanity fair and who knows what other deals made with the Devil....but still, isn't an honorable name a better inheritance?

The only way you can travel from where Hitchens was, to where he came before dying, is by turning stupid and trying to make others stupid. It would have been one thing if he had held these views all his life...but it's as if he went from knowing that 1+1=2 to swearing that they now equaled 13. His kids could have made their own way...what they couldn't do for themselves is maintain their father's dignity for him.
