...it was really clever and began with Reagan....the effort to get Americans to dislike their own government and subtly place their faith in the free-market, unregulated business and cowboy finance.

...it turns out that government is the only factor in American life that the people have any control over...we can't do anything about CEOs but we can sack politicians...and we can pass legislation affecting our lives...we can even get ballot initiatives to vote into law.

..getting people to distrust and hate their government is a great way for the wealthy few to gain even more control....and the best way to get people to hate their government is to get people elected to it who will make it disfunctional and even THE problem....and when they finally trash their government, Business and Finance can replace it.

..we weren't able to do a thing to the Wall Street banks who trashed our economy while getting tax dollars from us to make them even richer...and as the neo-cons worked it, we hated our government all the more for bailing them out, but were not able to do anything to the guys who got their bonuses from us, after breaking their own banks.

..it's a long steady move towards consensual Fascism...we will render our democracy meaningless while building up the rights and freedoms of the business class.

..and none of this would have been possible without Jesus...it was by hiding behind Christian morality and a return to the 10 commandments and other such rot as hatred of Gays and women's liberation etc., that the neo-cons were able to trick enough dummies into voting for them...if they had ever revealed their real agendas very few would have done so.

...the fruit of all this culminates in Trump, a businessman who has failed many times and who makes empty promises....from Reagan to Trump...that's the journey we've been on for decades now.
