...is that even children, when presented with something like, "he hit me"...usually want to know the other side of the story...which is why these sorts of stories have to become more preposterous and absurd as we go along....normal people know enough to seek the other side...to look for balance....if my kid comes home and tells me the entire school hates him, I'm going to ask what his part was, if he hadn't done something to make "everybody" hate him...because on the surface of it it just sounds too unreal....I'm certainly not going to take him at his word in such a preposterous claim of woe and persecution.

To get around that, our war-mongers have to keep upping the stakes....their side has to be described in increasingly hysterical ways...the lies and exaggerations of yesterday are no good today...and since they are lying, our leaders have to lie bigger and better...but we the people aren't so easily fooled...many are, but many are not....which is the reason real critics of our government never get an airing...not REAL ones who have facts on their side..like Chomsky etc.

But in our gut, many of us know these are lies...and what helps is that they have to keep getting bigger and more fantastical every day, every war or attack on innocent people....hell, most of our government's business is attacking its own people!

...and not with "high" taxes, but with NO taxes levied on the rich.
