...it wasn't the Assyrians of Iraq who started all this "give us our Assyria" nonsense...the Brits never made any "promises" to them, never even saw them during the war....it was the ones of Urmia and Hakkari who took the bait and betrayed their neighbors for the British...and when they had to run for their lives, taking their families with them, it was to Iraq they went and Iraq, a Muslim country, that took these Christian traitors in, let's not call them fools, yet.

...and it was these same refugees who kept yelping about what they were "promised"...having crapped in their own homes they now set about crapping in their new one...and it was these foreigners who refused to be settled in villages, at government expense, but must have their own NINEVEH, and it was these ingrates who crossed to Syria and then came back and fought with the Iraqi army, doing what any country would do to protect its borders from returning refugees, crossing the borders as they pleased, with weapons...it was these Assyrians who caused the retaliation against Semele, something the Iraqis never thought to do to people who they took in and saved, once...but, a lesson had to be taught...and the army didn't go around killing all Christians everywhere...just that unfortunate habit governments have of collective punishment when they want to get the word to a group of people and can't discover who the actual culprits are.

And, finally, it's one thing to be there, on the ground, and take weapons and fight for what you are led to believe will be your own homeland...those Assyrians risked everything, risked too much..it's an entirely OTHER thing to sit in Turlock and Chicago and tell the few Assyrians left that THEY must stand up and fight and "We'll send you weapons"!

Such rank cowardice is hard to reconcile with the "sons of Ashurbanipal".
