...the people against Gay marriage obviously don't know what country they live in, or their Constitution...the argument against comes down to, "The people get to decide in a democracy so this is an issue for the people in each state"...they say this because they know there are plenty of Cracker states where the people will vote against Gay marriage...but they don't know our system of laws, voted into effect DEMOCRATICALLY...by all the people of the United States when they voted for the Constitution all those years ago.

Their argument works only on the hustings, or on right wing media...what is curious is that they get nowhere with this argument in any court of law, well, not the Supremes anyway.

Our Constitution SAYS that no law, enacted anywhere, can go into effect UNTIL the Supremes decide it does not go contrary to the Constitution...that is their JOB, it says so right there in the Constitution.,.,...so it IS democratic, it HAS been voted on and for since the beginning of the nation; that the Supreme Court reviews all pending laws to see if they conform to the Constitution...the court is not "taking away the people's vote" it is HONORING that vote, for the Constitution, upon which our nation is based.

That's the reason this argument goes nowhere in court because the nine Supremes know better than anybody that to rule on such issues is their JOB!

Just like we had to accept the Supremes when they handed the election to Bush...and when they validate so many laws the rest of us DON'T LIKE...but we aren't governed by what we LIKE, but what conforms to our laws and Constitution...and it is the Supremes who are charged with the responsibility to see our laws and Constitution are obeyed....period!
