...always funnier and wittier than the conservative/reactionary? Why is the one faster on his or her feet, quicker at debate, not afraid of open discussions and live, on-air confrontations than the other? Why does Rachel Maddow beg conservatives to come on her show and when a few dare to, does she treat them with such respect while conservatives won't have her on and if they did, would sneer and leer and be as insulting and dismissive as they could get away with?

I'm reading a memoir by Gore Vidal which got me interested in reading more of his works...something I haven't done in a long while...which reminded me of confrontations between him and William F. Buckley, that serpent-tongued conservative who was always just tick less smart and quick than Vidal....I watched some video recently of debates between them and in Buckley's defense of the Republican party and Nixon and Reagan and what their "plans" were, for the greater good of America, as they slyly put it, you can she what the last 40 years of Republican domination were meant to produce...which is, basically, the rich got a lot richer and got to pay less and less taxes and get rid of regulations along the way...and how the poor and laboring class got poorer and poorer, till today when the people are just beginning to understand what has been done to them...just beginning.

And now it's quiet panic-time for the Republicans because the jig is up, the curtain has been lifted and we see where their policies have brought us, and they don't know what to do to get back into favor again...for decades now they've hidden behind "strong-on-communism"...and then Jesus and abortion and weeping for fetuses, and all of them smoke-screens just like the teevee preachers who use Jesus to get millions out of stupid people....but their front has crumbled, they can no longer pretend that they are for the "people" and the betterment of the nation...their naked greed and lust for unlimited power to benefit the white wealthy finally broke into the open with their pick of Romney....and they know they are in trouble...they face the hurdle all Fascism faces, which is; how do you convince, or trick, the people to vote against their own best interests.

They are saying that they failed at getting their "message" across, that they need a better communicator than Romney...ah, where is another Reagan...that GREAT communicator? To fool people they chose Sarah Palin because, you know, she has a vagina so women will vote for her...and now they're hot on Marco Rubio because he's Latino so naturally Latinos will vote for Him. This is their way of improving the quality of their messengers...but it doesn't wor...it is, after all, the message the Repubs have to offer, not the messenger or his sex or ethnicity...but what can they do...what else CAN they do? They aren't about to ditch their message, no matter how unpopular, because that massage worked...it got them wealth, crippled government and less regulations on how they can steal money from us...not to mention the stupid war on terror and the Patriot Act.

Their message really does suck...we finally see that. So, Jim Demint quits the Senate to take over the Heritage Foundation to try to cobble together some new way to fool people...some new mantra and talking points....Jesus isn't good enough any more, and anti-abortion isn't selling as well because it's finally being seen as an economic issue more than a moral one, whatever that means...and Gays are out and marrying and people are even smoking POT for free...so what can they possible cook up to get people to vote for their disastrous policies...I don't know except that their only hope has always been white older people, and they are a dwindling group...so what's going to come next? To make things worse for them the Dems have become neo-Repubs, so there goes half their "message" right there.

Interesting times to say the least.
