I notice with sadness that posts by Maggie have also been removed. This is nothing more than censorship in the disguise of "respect" and "responsibility". The Turks have their reasons and the administration here has its own, but in the end it amounts to the same thing and all human progress is stifled.

For a few years aina did the same thing, whenever anyone tried to warn that there could be dire results from setting this war against Iraq and that the war would not result in the golden opportinities everyone was calling for. No one wanted to even discuss the other possibilities which have all come true with a vengence, while the rosy forecast failed to materialize...even to the point of creating a Kurdiistan...and all weīre left with is the same, you can say repititious, name-calling and blaming of one another and calling each other traitors and Kurds and seeing insults where honest criticism is intended..very like the Turkish governmentīs reaction whenever criticised, no matter how gently and with what evidence.

One would hope that we learned something and were ready to try a new direction...but I guess not. It seems more of the same is the order of the day, which makes one wonder, how can it fail to, if this sort of disunity isnīt really the goal after all.

If the last attempts to cast rosy horoscopes failed, and no one allowed honest criticism, how does anyone draw a "hopeful" outlook for a future with a different outcome, when the methods being used are the same? Are you absolutely certain this is all done with the best interests of our children in mind? Would you send your children to a school where they were treated so...where their honest opinions, expressed ever so humbly and respectfully, were thrown out by the teachers because they didnīt like them...or felt insulted when they had no reply to make and therefor felt "insulted"?

Letīs all try a little harder and dedeicate ourselves, seriously, to fundamental principles of democracy as well as fair-play.
